hoping to get help id-ing this seabird. The lighting was poor and it was far away from me. Not sure if it is a member of the Loon or Grebe family.

Great sighting! Although it bears little resemblance, this specimen appears to be a loon in non-breeding plumage. If the date and time information is correct, however, it seems odd that a loon would be in winter plumage so close to the breeding season.

The date is correct. that is why i am so confused by the plumage of this bird.
