Blue mussel (Mytilus edulis) - Up to 10 cm (on rare occasions up to about 20 cm). The shell is blueish-brown-violet in colour. Found on rocks and shells on sandy bottoms. Can build large mussel banks. Found even on exposed cliffs, often in large concentrations together with barnacles.
