looks like Pine Grosbeaks. Male and females.

Are they common around here? because I have never seen one before.

THE "eastern Bird " book shows they are year round resident in Nl. I have not found them very plentiful. In fact, in the past year I have seen only 7-8 sightings, amounting to about 20-30 birds. I am not a bird watcher, basically seeing them by chance so I my observations are not indicative of their plentifulness.

I'm not a bird watcher either but I am surrounded by trees and I do see a few different types of birds in my trees but I have never seen this type of a bird.. They are beautiful to watch, I took a video but the post wouldn't let me add it.
