Comments:
this is a scene we used to see back in the 60s and early seventies. years ago, when we played hockey on the ponds. the Dovekies were very plentiful them times. It was common to see them flying around the ponds on a hard Northern wind and cold. they would land on the ice, but they couldn't get flying again because they would slip and slide on the ice.. we'd pick them up and skate as fast as we could into the wind, then toss them in the air. after several attempts they would fly away . back to the ocean. this is the first Dovekie I saw inland in many years. also it is the furthest inland I observed in my life. the ocean being about 2-1/2 miles away.
