saw a loon surface just off shore as I crossed the causeway. I have never senn a Loon in this location before.

I have seen them in that arm but more offshore from Weybridge. Never right at the causeway - the water is pretty shallow there, isn't it?

The water is very shallow. There was a very high tide that morning, I doubt diving would be possible for the Loon in that location most of the time. However, I have noted that many creatures feed on those mud flats when they are covered by high tides, such as Eagles and osprey.

I too, often see Loons in the deeper waters around Random island, as well as in many of the inland ponds of the island.
