Hi tclenche .. I noticed a bug in your previous sightings the other day for 23rd July 2014,
unidentified. I think it was a water boatman - corixidae, Familiar to some fly fishers as trout like them apparently.

thanks for the comment. I am hoping to go back to that pond this summer and capture one alive to get better photographs. This might help with ID! keep watching for photos if the water ever gets warm enough.

You're welcome. I'm a bit of a fly tier and there is not much info available on the stream insects that inhabit the streams here, so it is all grist for my mill, so to speak. Incidentally those water boatman apparently can fly and are said to just zip off and migrate for whatever it is moves them.
