great Photo. too bad it beached and died. I've seen dozens of these, but only in the water and alive. they can go amazing fast when a boat gets very closer. wouldn't think they would be fast because of the shape. like

great sighting and photos. I guess it stayed north a little to long!

I see them almost every year, but not this year!

I am wondering if maybe the reason it beached is it obviously stayed north too long, as tclenche suggested, and also it went in the arm to warmer water and when that started to get colder it beached and died. I am probably wrong. anyone have suggestions.
