Comments:
He didn't stay at the feeder very long before he flew to a nearby tree where I was able to snap a picture. Not the best photo but good enough for a positive identification. He flew off only to be spotted from our upper deck a couple hours later. Apparently he was foraging seed from the ground below another feeder further in our woods. Competition for the seed was fierce as we had seven other species in the dozens.

Great sighting! Thanks for sharing! According to the unofficial checklist of the Birds of NL - this is a rare bird here - seen less than annually.

Good news my new friend managed the snowfall we received here in Codroy Valley this weekend. He is back again today feasting on suet and tree sap in the cool rain. Yes sap, I was able to get a picture of him at it on the very same tree he was on three days ago. My husband and I are pretty happy with this sighting as it is a first for us both.
