I'm leaning toward calling these Lesser Scaup because of their smallish size and the shape of the male head but I have three field guides (National Geographic, Roger Tory Peterson and Earl Godfrey's definitive Birds of Canada) that show the winter range of the Lesser Scaup well outside our waters. If anyone has information to add I would be grateful.
