Comments:
Found in a brook using a dip net after stirring a few pebbles on the bottom of the brook. The location was just a few meters upstream from the ocean's high tide line although the tide was low when I found this creature. I put the organism into a shallow container for the photos and returned it to the brook afterwards. I originally though it might be an Amphipod but I've since been told by some people at BugGuide.net that it is a Mayfly (Order Ephemeroptera)in the Genus Baetis.
