This was on the surface of a water puddle in the middle of a dirt trail. I put some of the water in a plastic container and the strider is on the surface of that water for the photos. That made the photos easier to take because I couldn't get close enough to the strider by kneeling down in the water puddle. I returned it to the puddle after the photos.
