My guess is that it's a caddisfly rather than a moth.  It's tough to tell any more from the photo but you might want to check out the Genus Chimarra a.k.a. "Little Black Caddisflies".  How big was it?  Adults of this genus are under 1 cm in length.

You are probably right Mardon, that was about thr length of it 1cm.

The wings don't look like moth wings either - not sure how you describe these wings, maybe someone on here can suggest?
