I have recently discovered this large slug species to be in my home area also, however, we have not known it to exist here before 2013. anyone know what species it is? is it native or alien?

After doing some reading on the web I am pretty sure that this is a Giant Garden Slug (a.k.a. Leopard Slug)  Limax maximus.  L. Maximus is an invasive species from Europe. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limax_maximus
