Where did you see this? A beautiful bird, and great photos, but I was not aware that it is ever sighted in Newfoundland!

Apparently it is pretty rare here! Got these shots in Spaniards Bay. The egret was hanging out there for at least a couple of weeks in May.

Wow - that is super rare. Thanks for posting it here. We've been getting a few "rare" sightings, but I think this one is the most dramatic.

Thank you for the remarks! It was a pretty thrilling 1/2 hour to spend in the presence of such a spectacular bird...

No, I haven't seen it this year....

My husband saw this bird in St. Shotts on Nov. 5 and 6, 2014.The first day he saw it on the side of the river close to the new bridge. On the 6th he saw it again close to the river alongside the beach. I searched for white body, long neck, long legs and yellow beak. We are not bird watchers but we thought this might be a rare sighting. A lovely looking bird, hubby says.

Thanks for the note, NewfoundlandTraveller! Can you put a pin on the map with the approximate location of your Nov, 5/6 sightings? Thanks!
