Comments:
This beetle larva is 9cm from head to rear of body. My daughter scooped up some water and plants from a small, boggy brook in a jar. This arthropod was later found when the contents of the jar were examined. I photographed it inside a drop of water on a gray table top. It looked kind of strange because this larva was moving about inside a drop of water that was held together only by surface tension. I'd estimate that the top of the drop of water was only about 2mm above the table top.
