I saw that this rove beetle was in distress as a result of being trapped on the water surface of a small above ground swimming pool. That's why it's so wet in the photos. I rescued it, photographed it and released it.

I have  a picture on my twitter (http://www.twitter.com/nexcarter) and It was of these, I didnt know what it was.  I live in United Kingdom North East and it curls up its back end like a scorpion however aparantly has no stinger, although if you touch with your hands it can release CONTACT DERMATITIS ...
