Found while looking for aquatic arthropods. This was in a water sample taken using a plastic jar dipped into the water/vegetation near the shore of a small pond.

I'd also guess it's a trout fry; maybe Salvelinus fontinalis (a.k.a. Brook Trout or mud trout)?

it is sad that i do not know of a freshwater specialist in this province. I wish i had the brains to tackle the field.
