Notice how the outline of the adult midge is clearly visible in the pupa. The spotted wings, the eye, and the antennae are all easily distinguishable. Found in a water sample taken using a plastic jar dipped into the water/vegetation near the shore of a small pond. Was underwater while the photos were taken.
